The UBV has three members of merit: Cees Versteeg, Frans Meeuwsen and Arie Mink. They are all really committed to the weal and woe of the UBV.
Cees Versteeg(link naar de pagina van Cees Versteeg zelf) has worked in the background at the department of Biology, but he was also often present in the UBV-room. Because of this he was often able to lend a helping hand, and a helping hand he was! In the Dies week in 1994, when the UBV turned 70 years old, Cees was appointed member of merit at a special members meeting.
Frans Meeuwsen(link naar de pagina van Frans Meeuwsen zelf) worked as a study advisor at biology from 2001-2010. As a study advisor he was always there for all the students. He also co-operated a lot with the UBV to support all the students and to help them with their study. He always helped at information events but also at other activities that weren’t tied to his function as a study advisor. Frans also has special bond with the UBV because he has been the mentor of “de Driehoek”, a little nature reserve at de Uithof. Frans passes on his knowledge of de Driehoek and helps during the maintenance days. Frans was appointed as member of merit at the student farewell drinks in 2010.
Arie Mink(link naar pagina van Arie Mink zelf) was the building manager of the F.A.F.C Wentbuilding for more than 20 years. Even before that he was the building manager of the provisorium, that is when he first met the UBV. Now, Arie is more then 25 years committed tot he UBV. He helped with a lot of things. A few examples are the production of the first UBV-sweaters, he made the first Almanak possible and launched a second hand microscope market to which you gained access to if you were a UBV-member. Arie Mink was appointed member of merit at the “OuwelullenPUT”in 2011, three years later he retired, but he always remains willing the help the UBV.
