Are you a motivated student and up for a bit more challenge within your study? Or do you simply have a brilliant idea for a research project and have been thinking about it for years? Can you paint yourself in a pretty picture? Then the ambassadorship might be something for you! During this ambitious project you’ll be able to perform you very own research project and simultaneously put the Biology of Utrecht in the spotlight. What does it contain? First a few examples to illustrate.
The current ambassador of the biology is Laura Dijkhuizen. She is still working on realizing her project, more information will follow.
Are you curious about the project of the ambassador of last year? You can see her documentary here, it is in Dutch however.
To apply for the ambassadorship you will first have to write a research plan, a motivation and a sponsor- and media plan. In those three application parts you explain not only your research, but also how to put your ideas in practice. This means you have to find a place to do your research and write your thesis on your own, you have to have a plan how to raise funds and you have to show how you are going to profile your research within the media.
You can begin your ambassadorship during the fourth period of this college year, or in the first or second period of the next college year.
You have until thursday 23th of febuary 2017 to put your thougths to paper, send them to the following mailing address: voorzitter@ubv.info and you may even start the fourth period. After this deadline one admission will be selected out of all those that are received by an admissions committee. Some important criteria which will be looked at by the committee are feasibility of the plan, a clear connection with the publicity and measure of innovation included in your plan. The person selected for the ambassadorship of 2017 will be entitled to a starting capital of €4000,- provided by the department of Biology. Together with the chosen mentor guiding the participant in their project the ambassadorship can commence.
Applications can be done using the Application form Ambassadership which you will need to send to voorzitter@ubv.info. For any further questions or information you can ask the board of the UBV. Good luck!
